"Cowgirls Rule" says the sign in Seneca Rautenberg-Nunn's home office. From here, she also runs her newest business Nunn Better! Pet Care – a professional in-home pet care service.
Since Seneca graduated from the University of Arizona in 2001 with a B.S. in Animal Science, she has successfully founded her own pet sitting business, merged with another company to form the largest pet sitting service in Southern Arizona, and recently elected to go back out on her own again with Nunn Better! With more than 500 active clients and a carefully trained team of independent contractors, Seneca utilizes her wide range of skills and experience in both animal care and business. In fact, Seneca was recognized by the University of Arizona College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2007 with their Early Achiever Award.
A Yuma native, Seneca has been an accomplished rider since she was 5 years old, becoming an award-winning competitor in cutting horse competitions and a 10-time champion in Quarter Horse showing, both English and Western. She was an active member of the University of Arizona Dairy Show Team, showing their prize-winning dairy cows and teaching kids where milk comes from.
Don't think she's just a small-town cowgirl, though! Seneca was selected by Rotary International as a Foreign Exchange Student and studied for a year in Brussels, Belgium. Then she spent a semester aboard ship on a University of Pittsburgh program that took her around the world in 90 days. She has since trekked across Tibet with her Mom and navigated the Panama Canal with both her Mom and Grandmother.
In fact, Seneca never stays in one place for very long. Her energy keeps her moving toward the next pet sit, the next consult with a new client, the next idea for making her business even more professional and responsive to her clients' needs. Her expectations for herself and those who work with her are high, and no one knows better than Seneca how much hard work it takes to be successful.
With a Blackberry phone in her back pocket, Seneca is always connected and accessible 24/7 to her clients, her sitters, and her friends. Need some advice on how to deal with your dog's difficult behavior? Want to talk to someone sympathetic about an aging pet? Does your diabetic cat need twice daily insulin injections or sub-cutaneous fluids? Seneca is always available to chat with a client about how to preserve or improve the quality of life of the animals that live with us and are an integral part of our families. Her personal pet family includes 4 horses, 3 dogs, 7 desert tortoises, 2 cats, a ferret, and a cockatiel.
Whether it's mucking out stalls, artificially inseminating a dairy cow, starting a business, walking a dog, giving riding lessons to a sitter on her team, training her team of pet sitters, or winning a championship belt buckle on her horse, Chactaw ... Seneca's success is the culmination of a lifetime of experience with animals and their owners, channeled through her energy and commitment into a winning combination.
Cowgirls DO rule! And when we're talking about Seneca Nunn... there is, simply, Nunn Better!
